Unlike other tradeshows where Playworld Systems participates, this show is aimed at consumers. Families looking to get out of the Chicago cold came inside to test their coordination and fitness skills with Playworld Systems’ NEOS 360 electronic play equipment.
Playworld Systems was the first commercial playground equipment manufacturer ever to exhibit at ChiTAG, a show known for bringing together the best and the brightest of the toy and game industries. As part of its commitment to rethinking outdoor play for the 21st century, Playworld Systems offered show visitors the opportunity to experience the exhilarating and heart-pumping excitement of video games with the aerobic rush of outdoor fun.
NEOS 360 definitely made Playworld Systems’ booth one of the most highly trafficked during the two-day show. Kids of all ages wanted to know what it was, and once they learned it was playground equipment, their enthusiasm grew. I spoke with bloggers, people dressed as Stormtoopers, and parents while their kids took turns playing Light Grabber and Firefighter, two of the pre-programmed NEOS games. Adults challenged their children inside the ring. Sibling rivalry and handholding was also fun to watch.
Children squealed with excitement and said how they wish their school had a NEOS. In fact, one girl said the teachers on playground duty at her school yell at the kids for standing still, but said there isn’t anything on their playground that gets them to move. She said if they had a NEOS it wouldn’t be a problem.
In my opinion, everyone who took time out of his or her day for a mini-workout playing NEOS 360 was a winner. Especially the people from “Star Wars.”
